Support America’s Troops

“BVL Month in America” Set for November:
Bowling Centers Nationwide to Spearhead Campaign

The sport of bowling is launching its biggest campaign yet this November to celebrate and support its national charity, the Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL), in honor of the charity’s 75th anniversary of service to America’s military veterans.

Since 1942, BVL has provided positive outlets and opportunities for veterans in sports, music and the arts – designed to speed rehabilitation, boost spirits, and encourage healthy lifestyles.

Citizens from New York to California are encouraged to visit a participating bowling center and show their commitment to America’s veterans buy donating a “Soldier Pin” in honor of a veteran or active duty service man or woman, to be displayed in the center throughout the month of November.  All contributions from this effort will support BVL’s recreational and therapeutic programs and services for hospitalized veterans and active duty personnel.

“For 75 years, the sport of bowling has successfully, albeit quietly, raised more than $50 million for our important mission to brighten the lives of those who have sacrificed for our freedoms,” explains BVL Executive Director Mary Harrar.  “However, through ‘BVL Month in America’ we’re changing our tack; we’re loudly announcing to the entire nation to join us in our efforts – you don’t have to be a bowler to help make a difference in the lives of our veterans – just find a center near you and salute a special military hero in your life and help us continue our good work.”

BVL has been honored by the Department of Veterans Affairs for its long-time commitment to our nation’s veterans. VA Secretary David Shulkin notes, “I’m particularly grateful to Bowlers to Veterans Link for joining us in their own enduring commitment and noble work for Veterans. My deep thanks to BVL for steadfastly honoring Veterans’ sacrifices.”
