BVL Veterans Bowling Tournament

City, (Date) – Bowlers representing the (hospital/clinic name) are participating in a national bowling tournament, sponsored by the the nation’s league bowlers, through the national charity known as the Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL).

The tournament will be held at _____________. The bowlers will roll a total of 45 games and send their scores into the BVL headquarters to see how they measure up against VA bowlers from more than 100 hospitals around the country. Members of the local team include: ____________________________________.

The tournament was first begun in 1947, when the first WWII veterans were returning from the battlefields of Europe. Since then, literally thousands of veterans nationwide have been part of the tournament. This year, the tournament will also feature divisions for the popular Wii bowling game, allowing those veterans who are physically unable to get to the bowling lanes the opportunity to enjoy the sport.

“We’re delighted that the bowlers from _____________ will be joining in this annual event,” noted BVL Board Chair John LaSpina. “This is a great opportunity for our veterans to enjoy the camaraderie of a team sport and test their skills against their fellow vets.”

The winners in each of the nine divisions will be announced in May.

The Bowlers to Veterans Link raises approximately one million dollars each year for the this event as well as supporting hundreds of other therapeutic and recreational programs at VA Medical Centers, Vet Clinics and Out-Patient Clinics. The BVL, founded in 1942, is located in Metropolitan Washington, D.C.
