BVL Recognized for Efficient and Effective Programming and Leadership

At BVL, we pride ourselves on efficient and effective leadership and programming.  That is certainly reflected in the ratings and rankings by independent charity watchdogs.

Here’s just a few of our honors:

  • Vetted and accepted as a member of the Combined Federal Campaign (#93325)
  • Renewed again as one of “America’s Best Charities,” an honor only bestowed on about 2% of America’s charities.
  • Received top ratings by Great Nonprofits.
  • Awarded the Gold Seal by Guidestar

“These recognitions are proof positive of what those of us involved in BVL leadership have known for a long time,” explained BVL Board Chair John LaSpina.  “We have an extremely efficient and effective organization which delivers programs that truly make a difference in the lives of our American heroes.  Moreover, we do it with low overhead and administration costs  our most recent 990 shows our overhead at about 6%.  Our money goes right to where it’s needed the most.”

Contributions to BVL are utilized to operate the organization’s popular national programs – sponsorship of the tours of the entertainment troupe “Re-Creation;” the BVL “Welcome Home:  We Salute You” events for active duty military recuperating at Walter Reed National Medical Center;  and support of  the six national veterans competitions – the Creative Arts Festival, the Winter and Summer Sports Clinics, the TEE Tournament, the Wheelchair Games, and the Golden Age Games.

Additionally, BVL provides a grant for recreation therapy programs to each VA Hospital and State Home in the nation.

Donations should be sent to BVL at 11350 Random Hills Road, Suite 800, Fairfax, VA  22030.
